St Mary's Church, in Oakwellgate, Gateshead, is embarking on its latest chapter after a £1.2m revamp that has transformed it into Tyneside's latest visitor attraction. The Grade I-listed building, perched on the south bank of the Tyne, is now home to the Gateshead Heritage Centre, and includes hi-tech research stations and original architecture.
